Mr. Lewis & The Funeral 5

Carnival Séance – Macabaret / Post-Apocalyptic Jazz

This is Macabaret.

Born in smoke and brass. Raised on metal. Survived by ghosts and lovers. They play for the dead and dance for the doomed.

“Imagine Tom Waits as a carnival barker fronting a punk klezmer band outside the gates of hell.” — Austin Chronicle

Haunting & Lyrical

"Filters sadness through the band’s cabaret rock lens… jaunty waltzes of Weimar Berlin… blues-infected roots dive."
“You were quite content to wallow…”
“Don’t let 'em fool you, the words have the weight.”

The Origins

Formed in Austin in 2004 by Greg Lewis and James Sheeran, former metal musicians turned mad bards of the velvet underground. Mr. Lewis & The Funeral 5 became the pioneers of Macabaret: part circus, part ghost story, part burlesque apocalypse.

“Garage lounge. Post-apocalyptic stripper jazz.” — MySA
